Falling Skies Season 2 Premiere

Tom Mason returns!

The first two episodes of Falling Skies season two ("World's Apart" and "Shall We Gather at The River") aired tonight on TNT 9/8c to 11/10c pm.  Look for an all new episode of The Falling Skies Cast podcast recapping these two episodes, discussing the historical and pop culture references on the Falling Skies Cast feed.

The 2nd Mass continued their battle without Tom, and over the course of the two episodes we learned how Hal and Ben had stepped up to fill the gap left by Tom.  The 2nd Mass looks for a way to cover the heat signature of their engines in the first episode and for a bridge to escape to safety in the second episode.

Over the course of the first hour, we were treated to several flashbacks that detailed Tom's time with the aliens and his journey back to the 2nd Mass.  The flashbacks of the alien ship included some upgraded special effects of the grey alien and his command center.  The alien invaders wanted to end the fighting and sequester the remaining humans in a prison camp, but Tom would not agree to their terms.  Tom was released and made his way back to Boston with a young girl in tow, who abandoned Tom once she heard a battle raging.

Three months had passed by the time made it there and was accidentally shot by Ben.  Once back at camp, Tom is operated on twice during the first hour and finally awakes near the end of the episode.  The Mason family are excited that their dad is back.

Hal's relationship with Ben is strained, but his relationship with Maggie seems to be growing.

Ben continues to exhibit strange behavior, strength and hatred for the aliens.  He is tuned into the alien frequencies which leads to two important discoveries.  They learn the patrol ships are drones and these ships operate via a mobile alien structure.  Once the 2nd Mass destroys the antenna array the patrol ships fly away, which give the opportunity for the 2nd Mass to escape.

Tom's eye start bleeding while he's asking Hal to watch him.  Tom falls down and has a seizure, Anne finds and removes an implant from Tom's eye.  Tom doesn't trust himself and has Weaver restrain him.  Matt is afraid of his dad by this point, but ultimately frees him to join the fight on the bridge and even saves Tom's life by shooting a skitter.

Tom holds off the alien advances long enough for the 2nd Mass including the medical bus to cross the bridge.  Pope blows the bridge and appears to kill Tom.  Tom survives and is once again reunited with his family and the 2nd Mass.

The implant that earlier escaped and flew away, lands on a skitter that is watching the 2nd Mass and enters it's eye.
